Udipta Energy & Equipment Pvt. Ltd. — 5 MW Solar PV Project, Banka, Bihar
As part of its strategic diversification into renewable energy, Udipta Energy & Equipment Pvt. Ltd. has entered the solar power sector with a landmark project in the state of Bihar. Building on our engineering expertise, we are proud to be developing a 5 MW Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Plant in Banka, Bihar — a significant step in our journey toward sustainable and clean energy solutions.

The Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited (BSPHCL) — the nodal agency responsible for planning, promoting, and developing the power sector in Bihar — issued a Request for Proposal (RfP) (NIT No. 19/PR/BSPHCL/2014-15, dated 4th June 2014) inviting Solar Power Developers (SPDs) to set up an aggregate 100 MW of grid-connected solar capacity across the state, with a 25-year power supply commitment.
Udipta Energy competed for this opportunity and emerged as the L1 (lowest) bidder for a 5 MW solar PV project, covering its design, construction, operation, and maintenance, along with the supply of solar power for a period of 25 years.
Everything we do is guided by a strong commitment to responsibility, efficiency, and sustainability. These values shape our culture, strengthen our relationships, and drive consistent excellence across every project.
On 17th January 2015, BSPHCL's Board of Directors approved the resolution to execute the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Default Escrow Agreement (DEA), and Hypothecation-cum-Deed of Hypothecation with Udipta Energy.
Under the PPA, Udipta Energy undertakes to supply, and BSPHCL undertakes to purchase, solar energy at the agreed tariff for all power delivered at the designated delivery point, corresponding to the contracted capacity.
The 5 MW solar PV plant is being installed and commissioned at Banka, Bihar — contributing directly to the state’s renewable energy capacity and its long-term goal of a cleaner, more sustainable power mix.
The plant is estimated to generate over 8.3 million units (kWh) of clean electricity annually. This translates to approximately 6,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided every year, and nearly 1.5 lakh tonnes of CO₂ avoided over the plant’s 25-year operational life — equivalent to taking over 1,300 passenger cars off the road each year, or the carbon absorbed by more than 2.7 lakh trees over a decade
Beyond clean power generation, the Banka solar plant has become a hub of learning and local opportunity:
The plant regularly hosts visits from schools, colleges, and technical institutions, offering students first-hand exposure to solar PV technology, grid-connected renewable infrastructure, and sustainable energy practices in action. Every year, 2–3 nearby educational institutions visit the plant, bringing 100–200 students to experience solar energy generation up close.
The project has created 20 permanent employment opportunities for local residents engaged in daily Operation & Maintenance activities — including roles such as Technicians, Helpers, and Security Personnel — along with various temporary employment opportunities linked to ongoing O&M work at the plant, contributing to skill development and livelihood generation in the region.
This project marks Udipta Energy’s entry into utility-scale solar power generation, reflecting our commitment to sustainable growth and our capability to deliver complex, long-term infrastructure projects. It stands as a testament to our engineering strength and our evolving role in India’s renewable energy landscape.
